FS#750 - tuxguitar doesn't start

sorry my french is too bad and if I was possible to ask a question in french I couldn’t understand the answer :P
I used this method to install LibraZiK on my notebook. It worked fine.
But I cannot start tuxguitar.
If I start it from terminal this happens:

Someone reported the same issue on the IRC channel a few weeks ago. Maybe it was you?
That said, I've not been able to reproduce the issue. I then asked a couple of users whether TG was working for them or not, and they have no issue.
Can you please try to launch TG from the USB live and tell me if it is working or not ?
Also, can you try to launch it in English with : LANG=C tuxguitar and report back if it is working or not?
Hopefully, we'll find what's going wrong on that.
Yes, it was me. I tried with other distributions but I think librazik is the best option - if we can fix this tuxguitar problem.
I started from live USB. Tuxguitar started normally - but there was no sound when I played some notes
back to the installed librazik:
'LANG=C tuxguitar'
leads to the same as simply
'tuxguitar'
I downloaded tuxguitar from the website: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/files/TuxGuitar/TuxGuitar-1.5.2/tuxguitar-1.5.2-linux-x86_64.tar.gz/download and started with
'./tuxguitar.sh'
It starts - but with the same problem as from live usb. No sound.
@libranew, I have some questions :
Did you launch tuxguitar with Jackaudio or Alsa backend ?
In the 'Tools' menu, 'Configuration', 'Sound', had you chosen 'TuxGuitar Sequencer' as MIDI sequencer and 'TG fluidsynth [MagicSFver2 ] as MIDI Port ?
Here, with this configuration I get sounds. If I choose 'Jack Sequencer' (as MIDI sequencer) and another choices as MIDI Port, I have to connect the tuxguitar's MIDI outputs to a standalone JACK synth or sampler to get sounds.
So it starts on the very same machine when using the live USB. OK.
We may compare the list of installed packages then. Please, use this command : dpkg -l > log-LZK-installed.txt
on the installed librazik, and dpkg -l > log-LZK-live.txt
and attach both files here.

In the log of LZK-live, only tuxguitar and tuxguitar-jack packages are installed, if I remember correctly, you can only connect the MIDI output of tuxguitar to an standalone (JACK) application to have sound. tuxguitar needs tuxguitar-fluidsynth package to produce sounds by itself. With the live-usb, can you try to launch Jack, tuxguitar and Qsynth, then connect tuxguitar and qsynth and tell us if you can hear something.
It's a good probability of being a problem of corrupt settings file.
For example if I replace "/home/user/.tuxguitar-1.3.1/config/tuxguitar.cfg" with an empty file, it results in an identical error to the one described.
File not found errors indicate a "skin" not found, which hints at misconfiguration.
It's maybe a good idea to remove ".tuxguitar-1.3.1" (make a backup in case)
and the software will restart on default settings.
I renamed the .tuxguitar-1.3.1 folder and started again:
trebmuh: this is a Java runtime error.
It's possible the problem will be fixed by basing the package on JRE.
ie. build software as Jar files like the official does.
Currently, the runtime is GNU GCJ. This is a source of problems.
- It's not recognized as reliable Java implementation.
- It's obsolete, and does not have future, as it was removed from recent GCC.
Note to self:
Running the 1.2-23 version (from debian buster repo), I've got one machine where it's fine, and other where the first screen appears, but then crash as soon as I hit the OK button from the welcome screen. Running it from a terminal, I've got this:
